Who even are you?
Hi, I’m Clint Worthington, just another pudgy thirtysomething white queer on the Internet. Well, hopefully not *just*, but you get the gist.
What do you even do?
I’ve been a writer, podcaster, and film critic for over ten years now. From 2011-2018, I co-hosted the marginally-successful podcast Alcohollywood, which let me make cocktails and chat about movies with my best friend Jared and a host of other guests. Not only that, it got my foot in the door to start writing professionally about film and TV, which I’ve done now at quite a few big places:
Vulture
RogerEbert.com
Fox Digital
IndieWire
Chicago Magazine
Consequence
I’m currently a Senior Staff Writer at Consequence and a regular Contributing Writer to RogerEbert.com.
Plus, in 2019, I spun off Alcohollywood into a bigger, more wide-reaching outlet called The Spool, where I get to host some killer writing from some of my other great writer friends (and contribute the occasional thing too).
Podcast-wise, I currently co-host Right on Cue, a Spool-based podcast where I interview film, TV, and video game composers; and Travolta/Cage with my good friend (and pop culture writer extraordinaire) Nathan Rabin, in which we trudge through the filmographies of Nicolas Cage and John Travolta in chronological order.
Why make a Substack?
Because I suffer under the delusion (blissfully supported by some) that my work is worth reading, and I’d love to give folks a chance to follow it.
Here, I’ll repost work I publish elsewhere, and also find the time to write some exclusive thoughts for folks who might want to throw me a buck or two to support my work.
Where else can I find you?
As long as Twitter still trudges along until the Big Space Man takes a wrecking ball to its remaining infrastructure, you can find me there at @clintworthing.
I’m also on Instagram, posting the occasional dog picture every few months.
I’m also on Letterboxd, where I’ll fire off hot takes in the minutes after I finish a new film, and bother with the occasional list.
